Jameson wins in major debut, Arizona beats Padres 4-0

Drey Jameson pitched seven scoreless innings in his major league debut, and the Arizona Diamondbacks hit three home runs Thursday in a 4-0 shutout of the San Diego Padres. Jameson, who was called up earlier in the day from Triple-A Reno, allowed two hits, both by Brandon Drury, and walked one. In addition, he struck out five, including Juan Soto twice, and had 10 groundouts on 90 pitches. Kevin Ginkel, Joe Mantiply and Reyes Moronta completed the game with three-hit ball, and Ketel Marte, Emmanuel Rivera and Carson Kelly hit solo homers. In his first start since Sept. 3, Sean Manaea (7-9) took the loss after giving up two homers and one hit in five innings in which he didn't walk and struck out three. The Padres' lead over the bye Brewers for the final NL wild card shrank to 1 1/2 games. For the Padres, the Dominicans Juan Soto 4-0; Louis Liberato 1-0.
